EPA's (http://www.epa.gov/) mission and purpose is to ensure that all Americans are protected from significant risks to human health and the environment where they live, learn and work. (See EPA’s strategy plan for more detail)

All notices of EPA grant opportunities are available for review at on the Grants.Gov system. Open announcements are listed on the EPA website at http://www.epa.gov/ogd/competition/open_awards.htm. Proposals are submitted through the Grants.Gov electronic submission process or as instructed in the Request for Proposal (RFP) guidelines. If the funding opportunity does not include a grant "application package", you can find the forms at the following location: http://www.epa.gov/ogd/AppKit/index.htm. In either case, OSP submits your application on behalf of MSU; therefore, there is no need for you to register with EPA or in the Grants.Gov system. More EPA grant and fellowship information can be found at http://www.epa.gov/epahome/grants.htm and detailed instructions can be found at the "How to apply for EPA Grants" link: http://www.epa.gov/ogd/grants/how_to_apply.htm

The EPA uses grants or cooperative agreements to provide financial assistance for accomplishing a public purpose authorized by Federal statutes (i.e. supplements your research endeavors).  The agency uses contracts to acquire goods or services that directly benefit the Federal government. See the following link for contracting with EPA: http://www.epa.gov/epahome/contracts.htm
