Pre-award, post-award and compliance research administration training aiming to provide the latest news, training, resources and information available to MSU campus.
SPA/OSP/CGA, in collaboration with SPROUT and an extensive network of MSU staff, offer the ERA certification series to provide training for research administrators and other support staff who have responsibilities for research proposals, grants, contracts, pre- and post-award administration and related activity at Michigan State University.
ERA Registration: For ease of use and to be consistent with other research-related trainings, we have teamed up with the Office of Regulatory Affairs (ORA) to use the new Ability Learning Management System (LMS) for the ERA series! You can access the new system at https://ora.msu.edu/train/ (login required with MSU NetID).
In an effort to streamline the recognition of research related training and resources offered and administered by Sponsored Programs Administration (SPA), we are excited to announce "SPA 360" as the new name and face of our programs and materials such as our Videos, KC materials, and GRAND Forum resources! SPA 360 programs aim to provide research administration training, education, resources, and administrative support to build a community of research administrators, and to advance knowledge.
Additional training opportunities are available from external sources, such as the National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA) and The Society of Research Administrators International (SRA International).
To support faculty in the required federal funding agency disclosures and to assist faculty in addressing any potential conflicts, the Office of Research and Innovation has developed the Global Activities e-Disclosure (GAED) web-based form to supplement other required disclosures. A job aid has been created to help faculty complete their Global Activities e-Disclosure.
The Global Research Administrator Network and Development (GRAND) Forum promotes education, improves communication and collaboration, and reviews key developments related to administrative and financial aspects of international sponsored projects. It is hosted by SPA and is normally organized twice per academic year. Archived presentations are found HERE.
Job aids and videos on proposal and budget development, reporting and general information are available.
Since going live with the Proposal Development and Conflict of Interest modules in Kuali Coeus (KC) on April 24, 2017, we’ve encountered and learned a great deal. We would like to share these things with campus with updates that will provide tips, instructions, bug fixes, training opportunities, system outages, etc.
The SPA/OSP/CGA training videos communicate the wealth of information that can be accessed by research faculty and administrators on project financial and administrative activity. Video training is intended to supplement classroom training and other educational opportunities offered through our offices.
